The Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo has emphasized the importance of maintaining the rule of law to foster national development.

She also encouraged students to strive for excellence in their legal studies and practices.

This message was delivered during the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of six newly elected officers of the Justice Club at Accra High School.

The new officers are Abdul Razak as President, Karen Boakye as Vice President, Edna Danaah as Secretary, Seraphina Gogo as Assistant Organizing Secretary, Ezra Osei Anderson as Treasurer, and Angela Sedinam as Assistant Treasurer.

The Justice Clubs aim to foster an appreciation for constitutional and legal principles among members, as part of the Chief Justice's Mentoring Programme, established 16 years ago.

Chief Justice Torkornoo highlighted that the Clubs are designed to educate students on the rule of law and help them navigate the complex yet fascinating legal landscape.

She underscored that law promises justice, fairness, order, peace, and prosperity in any society.

She also congratulated the newly elected officers, acknowledging their significant achievement.

The Chair of the Chief Justice Mentoring Programme, Professor Olivia Anku-Tsede, expressed her joy over the program's success, noting that it has enabled two female porters to pursue higher education at the University of Ghana and Accra Technical University.

She expressed optimism that the Justice Club would equip students to tackle social issues, develop vital skills, and foster a culture of inclusivity and respect.
