GSL sets up three-member committee to investigate allegations against SRC

The committee is to investigate allegations of financial impropriety and mismanagement of SRC funds, the management of affairs of the SRC by the current executive, and other matters relating to the SRC.

The management of the Ghana School of Law (GSL) has appointed a three-member committee to investigate recent allegations against some members of the Student Representative Council (SRC). 

In a notice dated April 20, 2022, signed by the Registrar of the school, it stated that the new line of action follows the April 12 notice in relation to ongoing SRC issues. 

In the said notice, the management of GSL said it was going to take immediate action to investigate issues of financial misappropriation and mismanagement of SRC funds and other matters after allegations of financial impropriety were made against the SRC president, Wonder Kutor. 

Mr. Wonder Kutor who was interdicted by the Executive Council of the SRC on April 17, 2022, has called the action ‘unconstitutional and ridiculous.'

The committee set up by the school’s management will be made up ofMrs. Victoria Barth, Head of Faculty and Lecturer, Advocacy and Legal Ethics Ghana School of Law, Mr. Moses Ansah-Barnor Ankrah Esq, Deputy Director of Finance (Budget) Judicial Service of Ghana, and Mrs. Justice Anthony Aduhene-Benieh (C/Supt RTD), Certified Fraud and Forensic Investigator. 

Their duties will particularly involve investigating allegations of financial impropriety and mismanagement of SRC funds, investigating the management of affairs of the SRC by the current executive, and to investigate other matters relating to the SRC. 

“Students with relevant information and evidence concerning the matters under reference are encouraged to submit the same in writing to the Deputy Registrar. Electronic copies of the hard documents can be submitted to the email depregistar@gslaw.edu.gh not later than 25th April 2022,” the statement added.
