Former Juaben MCE trial: Kumasi High Court admits viral bribe video as evidence

The Kumasi High Court has admitted in evidence, the viral video where former Municipal Chief Executive nominee of Juaben, Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka was seen accusing assembly members of failing to confirm his nomination as MCE after he allegedly paid them bribes.

“This was after the OSP through its last and 6th witness tendered in evidence the tape. The case has been adjourned to 22 June 2023 for cross-examination of the last witness of the Republic,” the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) said in an update on Thursday. 

The OSP began investigating Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka after a November 2021 video showed the Juabeng MCE demanding monies he allegedly paid members to influence their votes.

In June 2022, he was granted bail of GHC 90, 000 and has since pleaded not guilty to the 26 counts of corruption brought against him.
