FDA recalls unwholesome Ceres Apple Juice from market
The products are Ceres Apple 4×6×200ml Tetrapak, Ceres Apple Sparkling 275ml Glass and Ceres Apple 12×1L.
The Food and Drugs Authority(FDA) say they are withdrawing certain batches of Ceres Apple Juice, considered unwholesome for consumption, off the market.
The products are said to contain higher levels of mycotoxin-patulin, greater than the regulatory threshold. This follows information it received from the International Food Safety Network and the product manufacturers, Pioneer Foods Groceries Ltd, South Africa.
The products are Ceres Apple 4×6×200ml Tetrapak, Ceres Apple Sparkling 275ml Glass and Ceres Apple 12×1L.
“It is important to note that so far, most of the affected batches have been successfully retrieved and this includes all the 1 Litre pack sizes,” it said in a statement.
The statement added that persons in possession of the said products, should return them to deports of Transmed Ghana Limited, importers of the product, or to any FDA offices.
