Lawyers representing Patience Botwe, the 18-year-old ex-housemaid of Cecilia Abena Dapaah, have filed a motion to the High Court requesting access to all investigation documents from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on Cecilia Dapaah and her spouse.

The motion seeks, among others, the investigation caution statements, interviews, and interrogations of Cecilia Dapaah and Daniel Osei Kufuor.

When the case was called, the court had to adjourn following a request from the accused's lawyer to that effect.

Patience Botwe's legal team argued before the Criminal Division of the High Court in Accra that their motion filed on June 12 would enable them to get documents that are essential in the cross-examination of the ex-minister's husband.

The lawyer thus requested that the court adjourn the proceedings to allow time to address the motion and obtain the necessary documents.

The trial judge, Justice Marie-Louise Simmons, agreed and adjourned the case to June 18, but suggested that other lawyers might conduct cross-examination in the meantime to avoid delaying the trial.

Accused persons Patience Botwe, 18, and six others have been slapped with various charges ranging from conspiracy to steal, theft, dishonestly receiving, and money laundering.

Despite being granted bail, they are still in custody since bail conditions have yet to be met.
