V/R: Police commence investigations on alleged murder of 90-year-old woman
Madam Dopui Goha was reportedly murdered in her Aflao Ziome residence on dawn of Sunday.
Police in the Volta Region are investigating the circumstances that led to the alleged murder of a 90-year-old woman in Aflao.
The woman identified as Madam Dopui Goha was reportedly murdered in her Aflao Ziome residence on dawn of Sunday.
The Aflao District Police Commander confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency, noting that the son of the deceased, Mr. Daniel Sodetordzi informed the police on Sunday morning that his mother could not be found.
Supt. Bempah Sarpong added that Mr. Sodetordzi consequently went ahead to look for her but only found the blood stains on the floor. The Police followed up with a visit to the house in the company of a relative, Mr. Emmanuel Jobbie, where they found the deceased on the floor, covered with a cloth.
According to him, while the Police have not gathered any information yet, they suspect foul play and are inclined to treat the case as a murder case.
He indicated that before the Police arrived at the house, the body had been retrieved from a well which was placed some 80 meters away from the blood-stained floor.
The Police have consequently began investigations, and would invite some persons for questioning.
The body of the deceased has meanwhile been deposited at the Ketu South Municipal Hospital.
The Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Mawutor Kpetsigo described the deceased as active, hardworking and one who engaged in businesses including land deals.
