UTV studio invaders fined GHC 2400 each
On October 7, 2023, a group of young men believed to be members of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) invaded the station's studios during the United Showbiz program.
Sixteen(16) persons who were arrested for invading the United Television(UTV) studios have been sentenced to a fine of 200 penalty units each by the Achimota District Court.
On October 7, 2023, a group of young men believed to be members of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) invaded the station's studios during the United Showbiz program.
Subsequently, a report was made to the police by the management of the station and the Information Ministry which led to their arrest.
They were then charged for being on the premises for unlawful purposes.
Today, when they were arraigned before the court presided over by His Worship Prince Osei Owusu, they all pleaded guilty to the charge and were thus convicted on their own pleas.
The Court thus sentenced them to a fine of Two Thousand Four Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 2,400.00) in default 3 months imprisonment.
In addition, they were also ordered to sign a bond to be of good behavior in default 6 months imprisonment.
