Convener of the #FixTheCountry pressure Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has on Monday, February 14, 2022, been charged with Treason Felony by an Ashaiman District Court and remanded.

The court presided over by Her Honour Eleanor Barnes noted that it did not have the jurisdiction to grant bail to the accused per the nature of the offense thus remanded him to police custody.

Oliver was arrested on February 11, 2022, at the Kotoka International Airport upon his return to Ghana from the United Kingdom.

According to a February 12 post by the Ghana Police Service, Oliver was arrested by the “Tema Regional Command following a post he allegedly made on the social media platform to the effect that he would stage a coup himself if the E.Levy Bill is passed by Parliament.”

The Police further noted that the post by Oliver Barker-Vormawor contained a clear statement of intent with a possible will to execute a coup in his declaration of intent to subvert the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

Furthermore, the court ordered the Police to ensure that the defense and three members of his family are allowed access to the accused each day between 10 am to 4 p.m.

He is expected to reappear in court on February 28, 2022.
