In a tragic incident recorded at Gomoa Akotsi, a police officer has lost their life and several others sustained critical injuries when a truck, having lost control due to brake failure, collided with their vehicle. The accident occurred on the road between Gomoa Akramah and Akoti Junction in the Central Region's Gomoa East District.

Reports indicate that the KIA Rhino truck, bearing the registration number GX 4135-24, first collided with a vehicle owned by Chinese nationals before veering into the police vehicle stationed by the roadside. According to eyewitness Nai Appiah Nortey who spoke to Accra-based Citi News, the police vehicle was dragged several meters before coming to a halt in front of a local shop.

At the time of the incident, some officers were inside the police vehicle while others were making purchases nearby. Given the severity of the impact of the collision, some officers were ejected from the vehicle. Emergency services swiftly transported the injured, including a Chinese national, to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba for urgent care.

Authorities, including the Central East Regional Operations commander, quickly arrived at the scene to assess the damage and coordinate the response.
