The Judicial Service Association of Ghana(JUSAG) has condemned the violent invasion of the Tamale District Court by some unscrupulous elements and called on the Police to deal decisively with the suspects arrested.

The unfortunate incident, which occurred on Monday, August 2023 was in response to an arrest and trial of a suspected drug dealer whom the youth believed was being protected by the police thus leading to the invasion of the court, pelting of stones, and gunshots at the court premises.

As such, JUSAG in a statement signed by its president, Samuel Afotey Otu, the Association has called on the “Judicial Service and the Securities services to intensify efforts to ensure optimum safety and security of all officers of the court before justice administration resumes at the court.”

Additionally, the statement calls on the “revered chiefs, religious leaders, political leadership, and the opinion leaders of Tamale and the Northern Region to support the Judiciary and the security services to serve the people to the best of their abilities.”
