Takoradi alleged ‘kidnapped pregnant’ woman pleads not guilty in Court

She is facing two charges of deceiving a public officer and publication of fake news with the intent to cause fear and panic.

Josephine Panyin Mensah, the woman amid the widely circulated pregnant and kidnapping brouhaha, has pleaded not guilty in her first appearance in court today, September 27, 2021.

Josephine was brought to the  Takoradi Harbour Circuit Court A by police today, around 6.00 am.

She is facing two charges of deceiving a public officer and publication of fake news with the intent to cause fear and panic.

Last week, the Police Public Affairs Directorate hinted at prosecuting Josephine. The AG Director-General at the Ghana Police Service, ACP Kwesi Ofori indicated that Josephine Panyin Mensah had wasted their resources through her creation of a fake story.

Josephine has meanwhile been granted a GHC 50,000 bail with two sureties.
