The Office of the Special Prosecutor has directed the Management of the Tema Oil Refinery to suspend its proposed partnership agreement with Tema Energy and Processing Limited.

It notes that it has commenced an analysis of the risk of corruption in respect of the proposed partnership agreement and thus wants to wait for further advice in that regard.

In a statement signed by Mr Kissi Agyebeng, the Office has further directed TOR to furnish it with all the necessary documents in respect of the proposed partnership agreement.

It is however not clear why this decision by the OSP but it is also likely to have proceeded from recent allegations among some agitated staff of the Refinery who have made various allegations relative to the legality of the deal, coupled with recent management challenges and other problems faced by TOR.

This move by the OSP is however believed to help provide further scrutiny into the proposed partnership per its mandate under regulation 31(1)(a) of the OSP Regulations, 2018(L.I 2374).
