The Supreme Court has struck out an injunction application filed by the National Democratic Congress(NDC) and four(4) other political parties against the Electoral Commission.

The NDC and four other political parties filed a suit on September 7, seeking an injunction to stop the Electoral Commission from going ahead with the recently ended limited Voter Registration Exercise.

However, when the case was called on Tuesday, there was no representation from the NDC or the other four political parties.

The EC on its part was represented by a Deputy Chairperson and its counsel, Justine Amenuvor.

In striking out the application, the five(5) member panel presided over by the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo explained that the apex court and the Court of Appeal do not sit during the legal vacation which is usually in August and September.

The CJ also added that due to the vacation, there was no way the Supreme Court could have dealt with the application unless by an extreme special fiat.

Other members of the panel were  Justices Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu, Barbara Ackah Yensu, and Ernest Yao Gaewu.
