Suhuyini raises new concerns over 2020 election results after CDD survey

The Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini has said that concerns and doubts over the legitimacy of the 2020 election results are further strengthened by the recent survey by the Center for Democratic Development.
The CDD survey showed that 62 percent of Ghanaians had doubts and were not generally confident in the government’s ability to fight corruption.
According to Mr. Suhuyini, this was troubling, given the fact that the government had been in office for at least three months at the time the CDD research was conducted. Consequently, he questioned why this was not particularly reflected in the elections that had just been conducted.
“This is just after an election they won. It just makes me wonder whether really, as some of us challenged, the results were really what they were supposed to be.”
“Who are those who really voted for this party to be in power… who voted them in three months before this research was done,” he told Accra-based Citi News.
The Tamale North legislator further insisted that the outcome of the findings held troubling implications for the country.
This is because the survey also indicated that about forty-eight percent of Ghanaians did not have confidence in the government’s ability to effectively uphold the rule of law in the next four years while almost fifty-three percent were not sure of the government’s ability to protect Ghana’s financial resources.
“It is sad that we have to live with it [the Akufo-Addo administration] for about two or three years more. It is disturbing that people do not have confidence,” Hon. Suhuyini noted.
