The Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin Yeboah has urged lawyers to protect the sanctity of the judicial process and the legal profession in Ghana.

According to him, one of the steps to achieving the above is for lawyers to desist from litigating cases on social media.

“Our cases are to be placed before judges in court and not before the public or on social media,” he said.

He made this statement on Friday, October 1, 2021, when he delivered a speech at the enrolment of new lawyers to the Ghana Bar. He, therefore, tasked the new lawyers to rather argue and advance their cases in the courtroom.

He however admitted that the legal profession, like any other profession has been affected by technological advancement and changes but said the situation is not an excuse for lawyers to flout the legal professional standards.

“It cannot be denied that the legal profession is, like nearly every other profession; in a state of constant change. We have been affected by technology.” He added.

In all, 278 new lawyers were called to the Ghana Bar.
