Shatta Wale trial: Prosecutors to pursue another suspect
The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Denis Terkpetey has accused the lawyers of the Musician of violating a gentleman’s agreement since they failed to produce the said suspect.
Prosecutors in the trial involving Musician Shatta Wale and three others have said that they are seeking the sister of the Musician, to assist with investigations.
The sister of Musician Shatta Wale is said to have reported the fake gunshot incident to the police at East Legon.
The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Denis Terkpetey has accused the lawyers of the Musician of violating a gentleman’s agreement since they failed to produce the said suspect.
He told the court that the State would resort to every means in arresting the said suspect.
“We were in your chambers (Judge) and we agreed on a gentleman agreement and they have failed to do what is right. There was a gentleman’s agreement between counsel, but they are not helping us, so we will use other means,” Chief Inspector Denis Terkpetey said.
However, Jerry Avenorgbo, lawyer for the Musician who argued otherwise said he wondered why a person who volunteered information to the police should be treated as a suspect.
The Lawyer also said the actions of the prosecutors will put fear in people who have information and want to report to the police.
The court subsequently adjourned the case to February 15, 2022.
Shatta Wale was arrested on October 19, 2021, after he allegedly faked a gunshot attack, following a prophecy that indicated he would be killed by armed robbers on the said day.
He was subsequently remanded to the Ankaful Prison and eventually granted a GHS100,000 self-recognizance bail.
The artiste has since been charged with the publication of false news and causing fear and panic. His accomplices, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Idris Yusif, and Eric Venator have also been charged with abetment of crime.
