Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Arman Mensah popularly called Shatta Wale, and his former manager Lawrence Asiamah Hanson also known as Bulldog have begun negotiation and out-of-court settlement in a defamation suit filed by the latter against the former.

This follows an official grant of the request by the presiding judge, Justice Joseph Adu Agyemang when the case was called yesterday at the Accra High Court.

Since their professional relationship ended sometime in 2021, the two have been at each other’s throats leading the artist into making an allegation against his former manager relative to his supposed involvement in the death of the late artiste manager, Fennec Okyere.

The above social media allegation by Shatta came as a sort of response to Bulldog's supposedly revelation of hidden international collaborations of the Dancehall artist.

Dissatisfied with the allegation against him, Bulldog in November last year issued a writ seeking among others punitive damages against Shatta Wale.

Appearing in court on March 7, 2023, the lawyer for the plaintiff, Justice Srem sai announced to the court that negotiations and settlement had already begun and thus asked for an adjournment for this cause the outcome of which they may file for an extension to file their witness statement.

This was thus upheld by the presiding judge who further encouraged the parties to settle the matter out of court.

The case has meanwhile been adjourned to April 18, 2023.

According to the main suit, the plaintiff, Bulldog is seeking the following reliefs;

A declaration that the series of publications made by Shatta Wale is defamatory to him.

A declaration that the series of publications made by Shatta Wale is malicious

An order directed at Shatta Wale to make a publication on seven consecutive days of an unqualified retraction of an unreserved apology for the defamatory words.

An order for perpetual injunction against Shatta Wale, his agents, workmen, assigns, and servants from publishing any defamatory words against him.

General damages for defamation

Special damages for defamation

Punitive damages for the malicious publication of falsehood against him.
