Road Traffic Indiscipline: Court issues warrant for arrest of Nhyiaeso MP, another

The La Magistrate Court in Accra has issued a warrant for the arrest of the MP for Nhyiaeso in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Dr. Stephen Amoah for failing to appear before it today.

Hon. Dr. Stephen Amoah was arrested with six others yesterday, December 7, 2021, for flouting the Road Traffic Regulation during a special exercise by the Ghana Police Service.

The seven suspects were put before the Magistrate Court today however five of the suspect drivers appeared before the court and four namely; Dominic Atuahene –Ababio, Daniel Boateng, Emmanuel Kofi Ofori, and Joseph Brown were sentenced to a fine of One Thousand, Eight Hundred Cedis(Ȼ1800) each or in default serve three(3) months prison terms. All four convicted drivers paid their fines.

Furthermore, driver, Thomas Atinga was convicted to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for three(3) months or in default serve a three(3) months prison term.

A statement by the Police Service notes that the court issued a warrant for the arrest of Hon. Dr. Stephen Amoah and Samuel Anim for failing to appear before it.

Additionally, it indicates that the Police Service has directed all Police formations throughout the country to clamp down on recalcitrant drivers especially those with V8 vehicles to stop flouting Road Traffic Regulations or face the full rigors of the law.
