Respected Lawyer and Human rights activist Akoto Ampaw dead
The lawyer is reported to have died in the early hours of today, October 20, after a short illness.
Esteemed lawyer and human rights activist Akoto Ampaw has passed on.
The lawyer is reported to have died in the early hours of today, October 20, after a short illness.
The late Lawyer Anthony Akoto Ampaw was a partner at Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co until his passing.
He was previously the head of the legal team that represented President Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2020 election petition at the Supreme Court.
Mr. Ampaw was also a key critic of the anti-LGBTQ bill before Parliament - many times with other civil society voices raising concerns about the need for the bill to consider human rights protection.
He was a key advocate for the teaching of human rights in schools.
His family and the firm where he worked, in the coming days are expected to release a statement.
