Rapper Denning Edem Hotor, popularly known as Ayigbe Edem has been granted a GHC 50,000 bail by the Kaneshie District Court for allegedly knocking down a 40-year-old woman on the George Walker Bush Highway on Sunday.

Edem was charged with two counts of careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm, contrary to section 1 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 ( Act 683).

According to details of the incident, the rapper knocked down the victim a few meters from the Dimples Roundabout on the Highway around 2 am.

“The victim sustained serious injury and she was rushed to Police Hospital for treatment, but she was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical officer on duty,” Prosecutors told the court today.

His plea to the two counts was not taken, and the case has been adjourned to February 15, 2024.

But in a statement later after the case, his management described the incident as near-fatal for the rapper. The statement detailed that the rapper's path was crossed by a “naked woman out of nowhere" while returning from his appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz show.

“Edem's car turned upside down after the impact but the artiste is very fine. Edem is currently complying with the police service for due process as the case is still under investigation," the statement signed by VRMG said.
