The Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo has said that Public Complaints Directorates have been revamped in all courts to enable the public to make complaints.

She noted that her office accepts and acts on not less than 10 petitions daily and thus called on the public to report bribe-taking court officers and judges.

Justice Torkornoo also recounted the fact that sometimes some court officers request money from the public to be given to judges for favorable judgments.

She however added that such money at most times are not even requested by the judges and thus charged all to report such court officers to the law to appropriately deal with them.

The Chief Justice made this known at separate Community Sensitization programs at Akwatia and Kraboa Coaltar in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The sensitization program is an initiative of the Chief Justice meant to demystify the work of the Judiciary and the justice delivery sector through her interaction with the citizenry.

So far, similar engagements have been held in six communities in the Greater Accra and the Eastern Region.

Furthermore, Justice Torkornoo indicated plans to come out with court user guides that will make available all court buildings and their jurisdictions for the public to know where to go.

Also, the Chief Justice mentioned that the fees charged by the various court services will be posted on the various court premises to enhance accountability and thus reduce the situation of clerks receiving bribes from clients.

Moreover, the Chief Justice explained to the public the need for them to resort to an Alternative Dispute Resolution system for the speedy settlement of disputes and the preservation of family relationships
