The Ghana Prisons Service says it has set a committee to investigate allegations made by two ex-convicts against some officers of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.

The ex-convicts appearing last week on an Onua TV show hosted by Captain Smart alleged that some prison officers spearheaded the buying and selling of contraband goods, including drugs, among others.

Reacting in a statement, the Ghana Prisons Service said: "As an institution that holds its integrity and reputation in high esteem and will not permit any act that tends to tarnish its image a committee has been set up to investigate the matter.

The Prisons Administration wishes to assure that any officer found culpable of any allegations or any act that is in contravention of the rules and regulations of the Service will be dealt with accordingly."
