President nominates four judges for appointment to Supreme Court
The nominees are three justices from the Court of Appeal and the High Court.
The President, Nana Akufo-Addo has nominated four justices for their appointment unto the Supreme Court bench.
The nominees are three justices from the Court of Appeal and the High Court.
They are, Justices Barbara Frances Ackah-Yensu, George Kingsley Koomson, Samuel Kwame Adibu Asiedu, and Ernest Yao Gaewu.
This was announced by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, following a letter he received from President Akufo-Addo.
“As a result of pending and projected vacancies at the Supreme Court this year, the Judicial Council advised me on 4th July 2022 by letter under the hand of its Chairperson, Chief Justice Anin-Yeboah of the suitabilities of my nominations for appointment to the Court of these persons in accordance with Article 144 (2) of the Constitution.
I am fully satisfied that each of these persons is duly qualified and eminently fit to discharge the functions of the justice of the Supreme Court,” the letter dated July 25, 2022, read.
Following their nomination, Parliament is expected to vet them for possible approval or acceptance.
