President Akufo-Addo on Thursday launched a programme for the evaluation of Ghana's National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP).

The original NACAP launched 10 years ago, constitutes strategic action plans that were implemented to drive anti-corruption activities and promote national development.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Akufo-Addo said it was important that 10 years after its implementation, an evaluation is carried out to assess the contribution of the plan in the fight against corruption.

The evaluation report which is expected to be completed in June 2024, will inform the second phase of NACAP.

“I call on all stakeholders to support its success. Mindful of the enormity of the task in evaluating anti-corruption interventions, strategies, and action plans, an evaluation team of diverse expertise including those in political science, economics, communication, and gender, has been constituted to evaluate the maiden NACAP.

“It is expected that a high quality of NACAP will be conducted utilizing a wide range of information sources and several appropriate methods and tools,”  he said.

Present at the launch were heads of various agencies like the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Office of Special Prosecutor, Judicial Service, Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice, the Ghana Bar Association and others.
