Pregnant woman, four others remanded over Caprice robbery

An Accra Circuit court has remanded into police custody, five persons including a pregnant woman over the December 9 robbery at Caprice, where a Chinese businesswoman was shot in the hand and robbed of an amount of money. 

The accused persons' Prince Anthony Chiobi, Izichuku Igwenagu, Emmanuella Chinwetalu (the pregnant woman), Martin Ahamafula Onwukwa, and Godfred Chukuebuka, have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime to wit robbery. 

According to prosecutors, the accused persons absconded with an amount of GHC410,000, $8,000, and two iPhones.

They also told the court the accused persons are said to belong to a group of robbers who allegedly travelled to Ghana to rob and leave the jurisdiction.

The court presided over by Her Honour Susana Eduful in its ruling declined bail, and adjourned the case to December 28, 2022.
