Controversial cross-dresser, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has launched legal a legal challenge against his conviction on four counts of currency abuse.

Through his lawyer, Bimbo Kusanu, Bobrisky aims to overturn the six-month prison sentence handed to him, suggesting instead a fine of Fifty Thousand Naira for each count.

On April 12, 2024, a Federal High Court in Lagos, sentenced Bobrisky to six months' imprisonment without the possibility of a fine for his involvement in currency abuse.

The judge stressed that the ruling was intended to discourage others from engaging in similar acts of currency abuse and mutilation.

Bobrisky had pleaded guilty to the four-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on April 5.
