Police Service interdicts COP Alex Mensah, two others amid Parliamentary probe of leaked tape

The Ghana Police Service has interdicted three senior officers over a leaked audio recording allegedly involving discussions for the removal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo-Dampare. 

The leaked tape which is now the subject of a Parliamentary investigation, allegedly contained discussions between Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr. George Alex Mensah, Superintendent Mr. Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, Superintendent Mr. George Lysander Asare, and former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Daniel Bugri Naabu. 

Explaining in a statement, the Police Service said: “The interdiction is to make way for disciplinary proceedings into their conduct in line with Police Service regulations.”
