Police place GH¢ 5000 bounty on man in video firing gun in public

According to the Police, the young man is said to have done so, to usher in the new year.

The Police have placed a GH¢ 5000 reward for information to arrest a man seen in a video on December 31st, 2021 firing a firearm up, into the sky at the ANC Mall.

“The Police Administration after reviewing the video footage has placed an amount of Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 5000.00) as a bounty for anyone who can provide information leading to his arrest to face prosecution,” the Police said on Facebook.

According to the Police, the young man is said to have done so, to usher in the new year.

However, Police says the young man’s actions amount to crime, under Section 209 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).

“The Police have taken a serious stance against the actions of the young man since it is a crime to discharge a firearm in public without lawful and necessary occasion under Section 209 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).”
