Police kill two notorious robbers, injure leader near Bole

Police in the Savannah Region have foiled the operations of a notorious gang of robbers, killing two and injuring one in the process. The Police managed to retrieve multiple weapons and ammunition from the scene.

A statement released by the Police on Wednesday, 27th October, 2021 indicated that the move had been predicated by weeks of “painstaking investigations and covert operations” and was undertaken by a “combined team of highly trained Operations and Intelligence Team”.

The deceased are Iddrisu and Dramani Iddi. They were killed during a shootout with the police when the Police closed in on them at their hideout, at a time they were planning another robbery attack.

Police say the gang had been responsible for the murders of Alhaji Ousman Amadu and Fuseini Galagala, among others.

Meanwhile, the leader of the gang, one Ali Igudu has sustained gunshot wounds and is currently receiving treatment under a Police guard.

The sting operation was conducted around Bole in the Savannah Region. However, the police report that the team broke into criminal cells within the Bono East and the Savannah Regions.

The statement released by the Police added that the robbers had terrorized residents around Bole, Sawla, Banda-Nkwanta, Prang, Yeji, Kintampo, New Longoro and Techiman.

“We commend the Special ops and Intel teams, and the Savannah Regional Police Commander, DCOP Peter Baba Atianak and the Bono East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Moses Asabagna Atibillah for the success of this tactical operation,” the statement read in part.

The police also expressed its gratitude to residents of the community for various roles played in combatting crime.
