Police gun down notorious armed robber

A suspected armed robber who attempted to escape from lawful custody has been gunned down by Police in the Ashanti Region.

The Police announced on Twitter that the suspect, Iddrisu Adams alias Koomi had been in connection with series of robberies and was on the wanted list of the command.

He had been arrested on 22nd June 2021 through a special police operation.

While in custody, however, he offered to direct the police to places he named as hide-outs of his accomplices.

On 23rd June 2021, the police escorted him to those places. However, he attempted to escape to which the police swiftly responded by shooting him.

Reports further indicate that he was subsequently taken to the St. Martins Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the police are actively on the lookout for his accomplices. The statement by the police adds that these accomplices are “advised to surrender by reporting to the nearest Police Station.”
