Police conclude investigations in Mankessim murder case

Police prosecutors on Thursday told a Cape Coast District Magistrate’s Court they have concluded investigations into the Mankessim murder case, where a chief and a self-styled pastor have been charged. 

Particularly charged with conspiracy to commit crime to wit murder; and murder contrary to section 46 of the Criminal and other offences Act, 1980, Act 29, the accused persons were arrested in September 2022 for allegedly kidnapping and murdering 25-year-old Georgina Botchwey, an aspiring nurse trainee, amid other claims of ritual killing. 

The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Daniel Gadzo additionally told the court they are awaiting further directives from the Attorney-General’s Office, where the docket has been sent.

The court, upon the update, adjourned the case for the seventh time to February 28, 2023, and further directed the Office of the Attorney General to speed up the process for the necessary actions to be taken.
