Police arrest four, suspected of robbery at Weija

The Weija Divisional Police Command says it has arrested four suspects, alleged to have operationalised a robbery incident at Kokrobite on Thursday, November 18, 2021.

The suspects, Benjamin Otoo, Tony Mensah Yedu, Bismark Asabree and Nana Yaw Arko were said to have broken into the victim’s home and made away with laptops, mobile phones and an unspecified amount of money.

“Upon receipt of the robbery report, the Weija Police Command embarked on a special 8-hour covert operation which led to the arrest of Benjamin Otoo, Tony Mensah Yedu, Bismark Asabree at their hideouts at Ajasco Red Top and New Aplaku on Saturday, November 20, 2021,” the police said in a statement.

According to the police statement, Bismark Asabree led the police to arrest Nana Yaw Arko at his hideout at Labadi. The police say other items that were retrieved included 20 mobile phones, a taxi cab, a motorbike, laptops, a locally manufactured pistol, 14 wristwatches, and a police vest.

The four suspects will be arraigned for court today.

The police also said efforts are being made to arrest other accomplices.
