The police have on Friday, 25th June, 2021, arrested some advocates of the “Fix-the-country” campaign, including popular actress Efia Odo.

The cause of their arrest is immediately unknown, although they were seen wielding placards in front of the High Court shortly after the court heard legal arguments on the case.

Multiple reports indicate that the protesters were seen taking pictures with the actress, amid wielding placards in support of their campaign.

Accra-based Citi News reports that “according to some of the conveners, a police officer on duty at the court instructed them to leave the premises and later called for backup.”

JoyNews indicates that shortly after court proceedings, the persons gathered outside were joined by their colleagues who were in the courtroom.

More than ten of the campaigners were arrested in an operation led by the Director of Operations at the Accra Regional Police Command.

Some of the conveners who spoke to the media indicated that the arrest was an “act outside the law,” yet “a good sign for our struggle.”
