OSP collaborates with FBI to investigate assets, financial transactions of Cecilia Dapaah
The OSP says the investigations will largely examine assets and financial transactions made by the former Minister and her associates within the US.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) says it's collaborating with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to examine the financial assets of former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
In a statement, today, October 11, the OSP says the investigations will largely examine assets and financial transactions made by the former Minister and her associates within the US.
“This collaborative effort is to ascertain the lawfulness of Ms. Dapaah and her associates' wealth, both in the context of their funds transitioning from Ghana to the United States and vice versa,” the statement said.
The former Minister is currently being investigated by the OSP on charges of corruption and corruption-related offences, following her arrest and the subsequent searches at her three(3) residential properties that led to the discovery of various cash sums, and those in her bank accounts.
This subsequently led to the seizure, freezing, reseizure, and refreezing of money found at her residence and in her bank accounts, which the OSP has maintained is tainted.
On October 6, 2023, the OSP charged Ms. Dapaah for failing to respond to a notice served on her to declare her income and property.
