One out of three women have suffered physical abuse- Ark Foundation

About one out of three women have once suffered physical abuse in their relationships out of which about 27% of them reported the same.

This was revealed by the Director of the Ark Foundation, Dr. Angela Dwamena-Aboagye when she spoke on Sunday, May 8, 2022, on the Probe on Joy news.

She, therefore, admitted that this situation put women not in a pretty position relative to their security due to the fact that these threats against women persist in our society despite the numerous campaigns and activism over the years.

Further to the above, Dr. Dwamena -Aboagye noted that the above situation is more frightening especially in the domestic setting adding that her outfit has in the last five years, delivered almost five babies born out of incestuous affairs thus fathers who impregnated their children.

Also, she was worried about the rising defilement figures in our societies. Ironically these crimes are perpetrated against women in their homes, societies, and circles where they are supposed to be loved and cared for.

She, therefore, made a passionate appeal to the government and relevant agencies to stand up to these rising figures by adopting legislation and policies and act seriously to nip these acts in the bud.
