The National Labour Commission(NLC) has summoned the Ghana Association of University Administrators(GAUA) and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission(GTEC) to a meeting and resolution of pending disputes.

The meeting, which is scheduled to take place on August 30, 2023, is in response to a correspondence by GAUA to the Commission relative to GTEC’s  “obnoxious” directive regarding the payment of allowances to officeholders in public universities.

In a joint statement, GAUA called on GTEC to suspend the said directive until all stakeholders had been properly engaged and further threatened to embark on a strike should it be ignored.

Therefore the NLC in a letter dated August 22, has also directed the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission(GTEC) to submit a report on the issues raised by the Ghana Association of University Administrators(GAUA) on or before Monday, August 28, 2023.
