NDC Central Regional Communication Officer given additional charges

The Central Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress has been slapped with a new charge of abetment to commit illegal abortion.
Mr. Kwesi Dawood had been accused of having sex with his teenage daughter and subsequently charged with incest, defilement and assault
He appeared before the court on Thursday, October 14, 2021, where it emerged that he had allegedly impregnated said daughter and caused her to commit an illegal abortion.
He has however pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Subsequently, he has been remanded into police custody and is to reappear before court on October 27, 2021.
He had earlier been granted a GHS 30,000 bail with two sureties on October 13, 2021.
The prosecutor, ASP Daniel Gadzo Mensah told the court that Mr. Dawood had connived with a doctor to abort the pregnancy that emerged after he forcefully had sex with his daughter.
The victim reported to her mother who subsequently reported to the Swedru District police.
Meanwhile, the NDC’s Functional Executive Committee reversed the party’s decision to suspend Mr. Dawood to avoid the prejudicial connotations.
