The Accra Circuit Court 2 has fined Musician Medikal GHC 3600 after he changed his previous plea of ‘not guilty’ to ‘gulity’ on the offense of displaying arms and ammunition in a public place.

The rapper, whose real name is Samuel Adu Frimpong, may serve nine months in default of payment.

He was therefore convicted on his own plea by the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Essandoh.

Medikal had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The court was expected to rule on his application, where he is seeking the release of his Ruger nine-millimeter pistol.

However, when the case was called today, February 21, 2022, the Musician notified the court that he wanted to change his plea.

The charges were again read out to him and he pleaded guilty to the charges.

The popular hiplife artist was arrested in October 2021 after he allegedly brandished a weapon in a video that was widely circulated on social media.

Subsequently, he was granted a GHC 100, 000 bail and remanded to the Ankaful Prison for five days.
