Mason jailed 20 years for attempted sodomy
The accused is also said to have offered the victim an amount of GH¢ 30, in efforts to lure him to have sex.
The Bekwai Circuit Court has sentenced a 38-year-old mason to a 20-year jail term for attempting to have anal sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old boy at Adansi-Fomena in the Ashanti region.
The accused, Collins Sarfo admitted to a charge of attempting to commit a criminal offense, to wit unnatural carnal knowledge by the court.
According to the prosecutor, Detective Sergeant Isaac Ofori-Mensah, the accused engaged the victim who had gone to help a relative at a public toilet and tried to lure him to have anal sex.
The accused is also said to have offered the victim an amount of GH¢ 30, in efforts to lure him to have sex.
According to the prosecutor again, the victim declined and ran from the scene.
The accused was arrested after a team involving the victim’s elder brother, Unit Committee members and neighborhood watch committee laid an ambush.
They arrested him when he removed his clothes in an attempt to have anal sex with the 16-year-old boy.
In court, he pleaded guilty with explanation and was convicted on his own plea.
The Judge, in delivering his judgement said the sentence is to serve as warning that the society doesn’t condone these acts.
