Man who fired gunshots into sky at ANC Mall arrested

The Police have arrested the man who was seen in a video firing gunshots into the sky at the ANC Mall on New Year’s Eve.

He has been identified as Flt. Sergeant Nicholas Owusu Frimpong.

According to a police statement, he was arrested after a collaboration between the Police Service and the Military Police.

“The suspect, Flt. Sergeant Nicholas Owusu Frimpong is currently detained by the Military Police whilst investigations continue,” the police said in their statement.

In an earlier statement from the police yesterday, January 3, a GHC 5000 reward was offered for information to arrest the suspect.

The Police said the suspect’s actions amount to crime, under Section 209 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).
