Man jailed for stealing Judge’s plantain

According to the prosecutor, Joseph Boamah, a complainant spotted the accused harvesting some plantain from the backyard of the judge’s garden on October 21, 2021.

The Asamankese Circuit Court has sentenced a bus conductor to 60 days imprisonment for stealing plantains at the cost of GH¢60 from the residence of Cynthia Blagogee, a judge at the Asamankese District Magistrate Court.

The accused, Moro Bashiru, 29, pleaded guilty and will serve the sentence with hard labour.

According to the prosecutor, Joseph Boamah, a complainant spotted the accused harvesting some plantain from the backyard of the judge’s garden on October 21, 2021.

The said complainant is a pharmacy assistant who lived at a bungalow opposite the judge’s residence. He is said to have escorted the accused to the police station.

The prosecutor also added that police investigations subsequently confirmed the crime, after which the accused was arraigned for court.
