A 38-year-old man has been arrested by the police in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, for threatening to kill personnel of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

Frank Mensah is said to have drawn out a cutlass when he was confronted about a possible power theft at his home.

According to the Ashanti Regional Revenue Protection Manager of ECG, Mr Ishmael Oku, when his men went on inspection rounds, it was discovered that the suspect’s electrical gadgets were working, but his meter was off.

He said when Mr Mensah realised that the personnel had detected his illegal connection, “he went to pick a cutlass and threatened to slash the workers and asked them to leave the house’’.

The suspect was arrested after a complaint was filed at the police station.

He is currently in police custody and will be arraigned on charges of stealing, interference, and threat of death, the police said.
