The 14 persons were arrested in connection with their alleged respective roles in contributing to the lynching of Major Maxwell Mahama on May 29, 2017, at Denkyia Obuasi in the Central Region of Ghana.

The late Major was on duty at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region when, on May 29, 2017, some residents allegedly mistook him for an armed robber and lynched him.
