The Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon Francis Xavier-Sosu is expected to lead his constituency members today, Monday, 25th October, 2021 in a demonstration over the poor state of roads in the constituency.

The planned demonstration had been called off from the initial date of October 18, 2021 after the police said it would not be able to offer security.

It is expected that this protest will demonstrate the constituency’s discontent with the deplorable state most roads in the constituency have descended into, following recent heavy rainfall.

Hon Xavier-Sosu has however indicated that the observations in the constituency are only a reflection of the government’s neglect of the Madina constituency, evident in the fact that the constituency was not considered in the year of roads agenda by the government.

The legislator told Accra-based Citi News that his checks had showed that while works on some roads had been awarded to contractors, efforts to get these contractors to site had been futile. Consequently, it is expected that the demonstration will compel the government to respond to the ensuing pressure and get the roads fixed.

“The demonstration has been called because of the extreme bad nature of the roads in the constituency, and we have actually drawn the government’s attention to this for some time now and it seems all our attempts have fallen on deaf ears,” he indicated.
