The Executive Secretary of the Land Commission, James Dadson has revealed that his outfit will soon start mapping the entire country and also conduct systematic titling.

He said that this forms part of a five-year training project valued at $85 million being carried out by the Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources and experts from the private sector to enhance efficiency in its service.

Speaking at an Editors’ Forum in Accra yesterday, Mr Dadson bemoaned the continuous multiple sale of lands by chiefs and the role of ‘goro’ boys which he said hampers the Commission’s work.

Mr. Dadson thus advised the public to use professionals in their dealings to avert the many issues in their bid to legalize their land documents.

Additionally, the Lands Commission boss recognized the largely manual nature of its work which allows which delays its service delivery and noted that they had started piloting the digitalization of its services and also hinted at plans to procure equipment to scan and digitize its work.

The Lands Commission has recently been rated as the fourth most corrupt public Institution in the country in research by a United Nations Agency.

Thus Speaking at the event, the Board Chairman, Alex Quainoo recounted measures to instill discipline and called for continuous education for the public.

On his part, a Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Benito-Owusu Bio charged the Commission to get rid of the ‘goro’ boys and make its staff in connivance pay the price for their wrongdoings.
