The Lands Commission has indicated that it is not aware of any purported sale of the Cantonment residence of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.

According to the Commission, the Parliamentary Service applied for a Certificate of allocation to regularize their ownership of the said land in 2022 which it duly granted.

At a breakfast meeting, the Speaker of Parliament is alleged to have said that it only took the intervention of the Lands Commission to prevent the sale of his official residence to a private developer.

However, in a statement signed by its Executive Secretary, the Lands Commission insists that the said residence has always been the official residence of the Speaker and that there has not been any point where the land had been sold to a private developer.
