An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a female laboratory worker into police custody for allegedly administering abortion drugs to a 17-year-old girl.

Susan Owusu has been charged with conspiracy to commit crime.

She is said to have administered abortion drugs to the victim when she visited her clinic with her boyfriend.

The victim is said to have suffered bleeding and is currently on admission at the Police hospital.

Even though the lawyer for the accused pleaded for bail, arguing that Susan had cooperated with the police, the prosecution team asked that she be remanded to allow the police a week to complete investigations.

The victim's boyfriend, Mohammed is also being held on a charge of conspiracy to commit crime.

The case has been adjourned to January 24, 2022.
