The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has stated that it has not assigned Kentrust Pensions Limited or any other third party to collect contributions of informal sector workers on its behalf.

In a notice by the management of the company, SSNIT said employers and persons who pay SSNIT contributions through such third parties do so “at their own risk.”

“Employers and Members of the Scheme should pay their First Tier contributions at only the 51 SSNIT branches nationwide or at any of the 21 partner banks,” it indicated. 

According to statistics from the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations only 3 per cent of the informal sector workers contribute to SSNIT.
