Kaneshie Court adjourns Bobie Ansah case to March 14

The journalist has been charged with Publication of False News Contrary to Section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960(Act 29) and Offensive Conduct contrary to Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960, (Act 29).

 The Kaneshie District Court has adjourned the case involving Accra FM presenter, Kwabena Bobie Ansah to March 14, 2022.

The journalist has been charged with Publication of False News Contrary to Section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960(Act 29) and Offensive Conduct contrary to Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960, (Act 29).

Presenting the facts of the case in Court on Friday, February 11, 2022, D/C/ Inspector Richard Kwesi Edusah indicated that sometime in January 2022, the Police received a report concerning a video circulating on social media to the effect that the 1st and 2nd Ladies of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Mrs. Rebeccca Akufo-Addo and Her Excellency Mrs. Samira Bawumia have fraudulently acquired and/ or granted for themselves State Lands at AU Village, and around the Kotoka International Airport, Accra for the construction of the “Rebecca Foundation”, a Non- Governmental Project.

He noted further that the Police commenced investigation into the alleged publication by the accused person and his accomplices, Edwin Tamakloe, Kwame Kwakye, and Eugene, all at large.

Police obtained the said video to assist investigations. The accused person was invited on several occasions but he failed to honor the invitations. Thus, on 10th February 2022, the accused person was arrested.

Investigation so gar, according to the Prosecutor revealed that the publication by the accused person and his accomplices is false thus efforts are underway to arrest the accomplices to assist in investigations.
