Chief Justice Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has admonished the leadership of the Judicial Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) to begin operational programmes tailored at imbibing ethical values in its members.

Speaking at the unveiling of JUSAG's 50th anniversary at the Law Court Complex in Accra, Justice Torkornoo said: “If we as an arm of government, we in the Judicial Service and Judiciary, are to boost the confidence of the public in this institution, we must embrace competence, diligence, and integrity as our distinguishing character.”

JUSAG's 50th-anniversary which is scheduled for celebration in August 2024 has been themed, “50 Years of Championing Judicial Excellence: Embracing Integrity, digitization, and upholding Judicial independence and Staff Welfare.”

The anniversary activities will highlight a number of programmes the association intends to roll out and aimed at strengthening judicial independence and its members' welfare.

As part of meeting staff welfare concerns, Justice Torkornoo said the management of the Judicial Service is steadily working for the passage of a Judicial Service Constitutional Instrument that should ensure the effective functioning of the Judicial Service.
